Photography
I’m exploring the world of photography with my trusty Nikon D60 dSLR. I’ve put a few of my favorite pictures on flickr.

I like to think of good photography as bringing together the right subject, lighting, and composition to create a compelling image (i.e. that grabs your attention, tells a story, etc.)
My approach to photography is to accomplish this using only the camera - no post-processing. Some folks call this Straight Out Of the Camera (SOOC), and you’ll see my images tagged that way (I also use tags to indicate info not captured in EXIF data, like when I use filters or a tripod).
Some would argue that this is really splitting hairs, since digital cameras have very sophisticated exposure metering, and provide control over White Balance, Saturation, Sharpness, etc. And some even have limited post-processing capabilities built in.
Well, I say … gimme a break, I’m still learning here - I need all the help I can get!
If you’re looking for a place to buy equipment, I strongly recommend Adorama:

I’ve been buying from them for some time now, and they consistently have the best prices, and often have free shipping. I’ve never had a problem with anything I’ve purchased from them.
For printing photos, I use their sister-company, AdoramaPix:

Their prices are great (including shipping costs) and they turn orders around very quickly. They print on professional paper, and allow easy specification of “No Corrections”, so you get the colors, contrast, and sharpness you want.
